Who are we?
Our 5K is run solely by volunteers with several shared passions:
Helping others, specifically children
Giving back to Belleville, the town we love
Running and having fun
History behind the run
In 2014, a group of volunteers put together a 5K to celebrate the Belleville Bicentennial. The 5K was run on the parade route before the Belleville Bicentennial Parade. The 5K was a hit with over 1,000 participants! The group of volunteers who put together the Belleville Bicentennial didn't want the magic to end, and they saw an opportunity to help other people, celebrate the city they love, and encourage fitness by continuing the 5K the next year as the Shriners Parade 5K. The course and the volunteers are the same as the Belleville Bicentennial 5K, only the organizations benefiting and the name have changed.
Where do all of the proceeds go?
The 5K committee works hard to get everything donated and to recruit sponsors, so 100% of the proceeds from the 5K go directly to our charities:
Shriners Hospital for Children
Belleville Parks Department Summer Children's Programs
Thus far, we have donated the following amounts to our charities:
Shriners Hospital for Children: $18,750
Belleville Parks Department Summer Children's Programs: $18,750
